Returning to EAIE 2026 in Glasgow to Broaden BINUS University’s Global Engagement and Move Strategic Collaborations Forward
Jakarta, 14 September 2026 – Arriving in Glasgow in early September, the BINUS University delegation was greeted by a chilly breeze and the crisp feel of early fall. The city, however, was buzzing with a lively energy, as more than 7,000 higher education leaders and professionals from around the world gathered for the European Association for International Education (EAIE) Conference and Exhibition 2026 from 8 to 11 September at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC).

EAIE has become a familiar meeting point for BINUS University over the past five years, as our delegation continues to return each year to reconnect with long-standing partners and meet new ones. This year, Vice-Rector Rini Setiowati returned with her team, joined by Rokoyah Andriani Amin, Manager of Overseas Program at BINUS University International, with plenty to exchange and explore throughout the four days in Glasgow.
From catching up with existing partners to meeting new delegations, the team shared the university’s vision and priorities while opening conversations around internationalization programs and potential collaborations for 2027.

“In representing BINUS University, I’ve always valued the chance to reconnect with our partners and have the opportunity to meet new ones. At EAIE this year, we met universities from across Europe and other regions, while also signing new agreements with the University of California, Santa Cruz in the USA and Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University in Türkiye. We are starting with student and staff mobility, and we look forward to seeing how these partnerships can grow into research and teaching as well,” shared Vice-Rector Rini.
The conversations did not stop at the exhibition floor. Throughout the week, the team also joined several gatherings, from the EAIE Welcome Reception and Partners Day at the University of Glasgow to receptions and networking events hosted by Danish and Belgian universities, Deakin University, Singapore Management University (SMU), and Edinburgh Napier University.

The engagements also gave the team an opportunity to share what is coming up closer to home. With BINUS University hosting the QS Higher Ed Summit: Asia Pacific 2026 in Bali from 3 to 5 November, our delegation invited partners throughout EAIE to be part of the upcoming gathering in Indonesia.
With so much happening throughout the week, finding a little time to slow down was equally welcome. Between meetings and gatherings, the team walked around the city, enjoying the chilly breeze and taking some time to relax and get fresh air. And while exploring the city, they happened to come across some familiar faces.

“We even met our Global Class International Business Management students who are currently doing their exchange programs here that made our trip more memorable,” expressed Vice-Rector Rini.

Four days in Glasgow passed quickly, filled with a mix of meetings, conversations, new experiences, and moments that made the trip truly memorable. As the team wrapped up the week, they left with plenty to bring home from EAIE. The focus now turns to following up on promising conversations and taking prospective partnerships to the next stage.
Until we meet again at next year’s EAIE in Lisbon. Até à próxima!
