Jakarta—The Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB), the United Nations, the Nationwide University Network in Indonesia (NUNI), and the Indonesian Digital Leader Association (APDI) organized the Deep Dive Workshop on Digital Transformation. This event signified our commitment to follow up on the pivotal launch of Indonesia’s Digital Transformation Multi-Stakeholders Partnership in March 2024 at BINUS University’s Anggrek Campus.

This initiative is in line with Indonesia’s National Medium-term Development Plan (RPJMN) for 2020-2024 and the collaboration plan with the United Nations (UNSDCF) for 2021-2025. As the nation progresses, the collaboration between academia, government, private sectors, and civil society will be crucial in developing a digitally empowered Indonesia.

Achieving true inclusiveness in digital transformation requires developing digital infrastructure to expand access across Indonesia and implementing robust data protection, supported by continuous innovation for future improvement.

Professor Dr. Ir. Y. Budi Widianarko, M.Sc., the Chairperson of NUNI, emphasized the importance of NUNI’s 21 member universities in establishing strategic partnerships with industry, government bodies, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to bolster Indonesia’s digital transformation agenda for the year 2045.

In addition, Miss Sarah Sagita, Head of Strategic Planning Team, Planning Bureau, Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Republic of Indonesia, stated:

“The primary focus of the Indonesia Multi-Stakeholder Digital Transformation Partnership is to equip youth with essential skills for the digital economy. It is crucial to address cybersecurity, data privacy, and the protection of digital identities while promoting a digital mindset and adaptive behaviors. Additionally, the initiative emphasizes the development and application of digital technologies, alongside fostering sustainable digital innovation and entrepreneurship.”

Emphasizing the importance of a digital society, Mr. Risdianto Irawan from UNICEF Indonesia and Mr. Pandu Putra from the Tony Blair Institute Indonesia underscored:

“The digital society approach fosters innovation and reinforces our commitment to progress that honors our cultural identity and societal values. By implementing the four pillars of digital society—skills, ethics, culture, and safety—we ensure our technological advancements are both inclusive and culturally respectful.”

The recent workshop has highlighted the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders in advancing Indonesia’s digital empowerment agenda. The commitment to inclusive digital transformation, the emphasis on developing essential skills for the digital economy, and the focus on cultural respect and societal values in technological advancements underscore a concerted effort to build a sustainable and progressive digital society in Indonesia. These initiatives pave the way for a future where all segments of society can benefit from digital innovation, contributing to the overall advancement and prosperity of the nation.
